Volunteer EventsAnnouncing JETAADC's Saturday August 16th Afternoon Volunteer Board Game Event at The Washington Home!!
The Washington Home is a non-profit institution that has provided long-term health care and housing for the elderly for over 100 years. The Washington Home prides itself on keeping residents active, social, and connected to the community by providing for their emotional happiness as well as their physical well being. The prominence and success of this organization has been recognized through important visits over the years by public figures including First Lady Laura Bush, Princess Diana, and others.
JETAADC is teaming up with The Washington Home to provide elderly residents at the home with some young and energetic company, as well as some old fashioned good cheer. Games of all sorts will be on hand for you and the Home's residents to enjoy including but not limited to Scrabble, Tic-tac-toe, Babbles, Bingo, and more. The Washington Home has offered to provide smoothies and an assortment to of baked cookies to residents and volunteers who attend, as well as a few prizes for winners.
The Washington Home houses 187 residents and the staff there would love to see as many residents and JETAADC volunteers come out for the event as possible. So sign up and bring your friends!! Here are the details: Who: JETs and FOJs What: 2 hours of fun and games with the seniors residing at the The Washington Home When: Saturday, August 16 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. (However, we'll gather as a group outside the nearest Metro station at 2 p.m. and then walk over together) Where: Meet at the Van Ness Metro Station (Red Line), and walk to The Washington Home at 3720 Upton St. N.W.
