JETAADC 2012 Elections

On April 25, 2012, in Japan, by JETaaDC

Elections for the 2012-2013 JETAADC year will take place at the next general business meeting on Thursday, April 26, at 7pm at The Embassy of Japan.  We will elect four executive officer positions and several committee chairs.  Click here for a list of the positions along with a brief overview of the basic responsibilities. Although we need at least one person to fill each role, it is entirely possible to split responsibilities between two or more people.

If you would be interested in running for one of the positions, please write a short paragraph describing yourself and your ideas for JETAADC and email it to lmastrini@mac.com by Wednesday, April 25.

Even if you are not interested in running for a chair position, please stop by the meeting to meet other JETAADC members and learn more about the organization.  Dinner will be served.  If you are interested in attending, for security purposes, RSVP to the JET Program Office via email at (jetprogram@ws.mofa.go.jp) by 5 pm on Wednesday, April 25.

Join us on Tuesday, April 24, for an exciting event with  Georgetown’s University’s Center for Language Education & Development.

Georgetown’s University’s Center for Language Education & Development has invited JETAADC members to welcome five of Tokyo’s outstanding young government officers who will be studying Public Policy and Professional English at Georgetown University until June. Two officers will remain for a full year in the Masters in Public Management program. The officials are very excited to meet Americans who have an interest in Japan.  So, this event will be an excellent opportunity for JET Alums to welcome them to our beautiful city, while at the same time expanding social and professional networks.

RSVP by Friday, April 20 to Brenda Bearden (bbb2@georgetown.edu).

Live Your Dream – The Taylor Anderson Story

On April 1, 2012, in Japan, by JETaaDC

Below is a message from Regge Life on his new film project, Live Your Dream – The Taylor Anderson Story:

A little more than two weeks ago, we had just begun the Kickstarter campaign for LIVE YOUR DREAM.  I am happy to report that in 17 days, we have reached the Kickstarter goal and we are moving past it. The tremendous response from the JET community, friends, colleagues and people driven to the site by social media has made it all possible. But this is only the beginning as the Kickstarter goal only takes care of production and editing.  We still intend to have original music composed for the film, make a Japanese version, build a website and set up educational distribution. So for the remaining 23 days, we want to continue to encourage pledging.

I am continuing to research stories from Tohoku to add to the documentary. I am pursuing a story featured on 60 Minutes following the quake with an English teacher named “David” who saved many of the children at his school holding on to a railing near the roof. I am also compiling some friends who can help tell the story of Monty Dickson.

Here’s the project URL: http://www.kickstarter.com:/projects/675402675/live-your-dream-the-taylor-anderson-story?ref=email

The website has been updated today to reflect this milestone in pledges and will continue to be updated until the end of the campaign.

Thanks for helping us to spread the word. Take care and above all, continue to LIVE YOUR DREAM!
